Product Overview

The FDB BA Series is a range of active amplifier modules developed primarily for powered subwoofer systems. The series includes the BA1.6, BA1.8 and BA2.88, providing single-channel and dual-channel power configurations for

different low-frequency loudspeaker designs.

The modules use Class D amplifier circuitry, a modular architecture and independent fixed-frequency PWM modulation. This design is intended to reduce difference-frequency, sum-frequency and multi-channel interference associated with self-oscillating amplifier circuits. According to the official BA Series documentation, the modules are designed for high-power, low-distortion operation and use a fully shielded enclosure to support electromagnetic compatibility and product safety requirements.

The BA2.88 adds integrated two-channel DSP processing and RS485 control, making it suitable for subwoofer systems that require more detailed signal adjustment and system management.

Product Advantages

Designed for Active Subwoofers

The BA Series is specifically intended for integration into active subwoofer cabinets, allowing amplification and control functions to be installed directly into the loudspeaker enclosure.

Class D Amplifier Circuit

Class D circuitry supports the high-output requirements of professional low-frequency loudspeaker systems while maintaining a compact module format.

Modular Construction

The modular design simplifies integration into compatible active loudspeaker cabinets and allows system designers to select the appropriate power and channel configuration.

Independent PWM Modulation

Independent fixed-frequency PWM modulation helps reduce unwanted multi-channel interference generated by self-oscillating amplifier circuits.

Multiple Power Configurations

Three models are available, ranging from a 600 W output at 8 ohms to a dual-channel configuration delivering 2 × 1200 W at 4 ohms.

Integrated Protection Functions

All three models include soft start, short-circuit protection, limiter protection, DC fault protection, an AC line fuse and thermal cut-off protection.

BA2.88 DSP Functions

The BA2.88 is the DSP-equipped model in the BA Series. Its documented processing and control functions include:

●  Two-channel DSP processing.

●  24-bit/96 kHz signal processing.

●  RS485 connection for individual or networked adjustment.

●  31-band parametric EQ on the input.

●  10-band parametric EQ on the output.

●  Adjustable input and output delay from 0 to 25 ms.

●  Independent band-pass filters.

These functions allow the BA2.88 to be configured for different subwoofer drivers, enclosure designs and system alignment requirements.

Model Selection Guide

BA1.6

The BA1.6 is a single-channel model rated at 600 W into 8 ohms and 900 W into 4 ohms. It is suitable for active subwoofer designs that do not require integrated DSP processing.

BA1.8

The BA1.8 is a higher-power single-channel model rated at 800 W into 8 ohms and 1200 W into 4 ohms. FDB has used the BA1.8 in active versions of its U Series subwoofer systems.

BA2.88

The BA2.88 provides two amplifier channels, delivering 2 × 800 W into 8 ohms or 2 × 1200 W into 4 ohms. It also includes DSP processing and RS485 control for systems requiring dual-channel amplification and detailed signal configuration.

Applications

The BA Series is primarily intended for:

●  Active subwoofer cabinets.

●  Powered low-frequency loudspeaker systems.

●  Professional sound reinforcement systems requiring integrated subwoofer amplification.

●  New loudspeaker development or compatible amplifier-module replacement projects.

Electrical specifications, driver impedance, enclosure ventilation, mounting dimensions and connector layout should be checked before installation.

Panel and Integration Notes

The current product page shows more than one rear-panel configuration. Depending on the model or version, the panel may include different signal inputs, link connections, level controls, status indicators, control ports and AC power connections.

Before cabinet machining, replacement or system integration, confirm the following with FDB:

●  Exact BA model and hardware version.

●  Panel dimensions and mounting-hole positions.

●  Required cabinet cut-out.

●  Signal input and link configuration.

●  Internal loudspeaker-output wiring.

●  DSP software and RS485 connection requirements.

●  Recommended driver impedance and power handling.

●  Required internal clearance and ventilation.
